GAME SUMMARY
The JV Cougars got back on track Monday night, snapping a two game losing streak and beating Souhegan 58-45 to improve to 7-4 on the season. Despite having a wonky schedule that featured two snow days and a four day weekend, the Cougars didn't show any rust and put in one of their best overall performances of the season. The Cougars ended the first quarter up 20-9, and went into halftime with a 30-22 lead. With their lead hanging around 6-8 points in the third quarter, Emerson Craven stepped up in a big way, going on an 8-0 run of his own, hitting two threes and a baseline jumper in the span of less than two minutes, and put the Cougar lead up to 14+. After this stretch from Emerson, the JV Cougars never looked back. This game featured great offense and stellar defensive efforts from the Cougars, 9 out of the 13 playable Cougars chipped in a bucker. Emerson led the scoring charge with 14 points, Joe Gutwein followed with 13, and Zach Burgess chipped in 9. The twin towers Zander Carignan and Alex Heck both played another amazing game, Z chipped in 8 points while Alex chipped in 5 including a 4th quarter corner three. James Cook also provided some toughness on the boards and in the paint while Olie Theriault was part of a nifty cut to the basket and layup towards the end of the game. The JV Cougars next play Thursday at Home against Bishop Brady at 5 o clock, and travel to play Stevens on Friday for a 5:30 start.
