LACONIA HIGH SCHOOL: 57
The JV Cougars faced another tough loss on Friday, at home against Laconia. Laconia's size was the determining factor as the JV Cougars had trouble defending the rim and getting rebounds. Laconia dominated the paint and the offensive boards in a game that the Cougars were lacking their defensive intensity as well as missing starting big man Erich Clark. Despite Laconia's size, toughness, and some unfavorable whistles down the stretch, the JV Cougars still put in an exciting effort and gave themselves chances all the way to the final buzzer.
In a game that needed rebounding, Emerson Craven did his part grabbing a number of rebounds for the JV Cougars during his minutes. He also hit a big corner three pointer in the 3rd quarter which gave the JV Cougars momentum going into halftime with the score tied at 22.
Malachi Page came out of the half and continued to give the JV Cougars a surge playing fearless, aggressive basketball. He had 8 points in the third quarter alone and finished with a team high 12. Max Scheinblum had an awesome game as well, staying aggressive and not letting Laconia's size be a factor. He finished with 9. Owen Michaels had his best offensive game of the season, including a big 4th quarter, and finished with 8.
The JV Cougars now sit 9-2 on the season. They look to redeem their defensive game Monday afternoon with a 5 o clock game at Souhegan.
