The JV Cougars got one of their toughest and best wins of the season Friday night at Coe-Brown, winning 43-36 to move to 12-5 on the season.

In their second to last regular season game and their second tough road trip of the week, the JV Cougars were prepared for a battle and that is exactly what they got. The JV Cougars started the game out on an 8-0 run and left the first quarter with a 10-7 lead. Coe-Brown crawled back and but the JV Cougars led to just 1, 21-20 and halftime. After a sloppy third quarter, the JV Cougars found themselves down 1, 33-32, at the end of the third.

The JV Cougars stepped up their intensity in the fourth quarter yet, still found themselves down 36-34 with under four minutes left to play. However, those final four minutes are where the JV Cougars have excelled the entire season and this game was no different. The JV Cougars ended the game on a 9-0 run, not letting Coe-Brown score another basket in the final four minutes, and holding Coe-Brown to just 3 points the entire fourth quarter. The JV Cougars clawed their way to victory at the free throw line. After being tied 36-36, the JV Cougar ended the game with 7 straight free throw points and going 17-20 overall.

Max Scheinblum led the charge with his aggressive, intense play and his never less than maximum effort style. Max chipped in 9 points, going 5-6 from the free throw line, making 2 big free throws in the closing minutes. Erich Clark finished with 8 points and had a big bucket down the stretch to tie the game at 36. Trevor Faber played a great game and finished with 11. Without the JV Cougars back up point guard, Austin Knight gave his all the entire game. In the final 42 seconds of the game, Austin hit the deck hard, went to the free throw and nailed them both. Austin finished with 8 points, including 6-6 from the free throw line, and 4-4 from the line in the crucial minutes of the 4th quarter.

The JV Cougars finish their season Friday, March 1st at Souhegan with a 5 o clock game. The JV Cougars then start their end of the season tournament at Pelham. Gaining the third seed overall, they will play D1 Goffstown in the first round with a 10:30 tip off.
