Griffins Head to the Playoffs after the win on Saturday!

In what was easily their best game of the year, the Griffins soundly beat the Kennett Eagles to do their part to secure a Division 3 Playoff berth. The Griffins Senior game started with a short ceremony for the four Griffin Seniors: James Coburn, Captain Preston Kirby, Captain Evan Turner, and Cole Turner. Then it was time to get down to business, and the Griffins did just that. The boys came out hard from the first drop of the puck to the final horn, and they never let up. They beat the Eagles to the puck, they gained control of the play, they made good clean passes, and overall dominated the game.

Evan Turner opened the scoring late in the first period with a tip on a blast by Preston Kirby, with an additional assist from Elias Niemela.
The second period saw only one goal, from the Griffins' Quinn Mose with assists by Turner and Niemela. Both the first and second periods were owned by the Griffins, despite Kennett's attempt to come out strong. Any scoring attempts by the Eagles were stopped cold by goalie Cole Turner, and the outstanding defensive teamwork of Elias Niemela, Braden Crisp, James Coburn, and Leo Lacroix.
In the third the Griffins opened up the lead to 4-0 with nifty goals from Logan Favart (assists Turner and Kirby) and Turner (from Mose) for his second of the afternoon. Turner had two others that were likely in the net, but both times the referees saw things differently.
The Eagles managed to pot one late in the third on a breakaway shot over the shoulder of Cole Turner, but it was too little, too late. The Eagles pulled their goalie to try and win back some ground, but on his second attempt at the open net from the defensive zone, Mose picked up his second goal of the day.

With a dominating win in the books for the Griffins, the rest was up to Pembroke Academy/Campbell in their senior game against Laconia. The PAC came through for us with a 5-4 OT nailbiter of a win.
The Griffins play on Saturday 3/7 at 4PM in Laconia against the Belmont-Gilford Bulldogs. Pack up the car and come support the Griffins!!
