It’s a sweep!  The ConVal Girl’s Tennis Team swept all 9 lines of their home match vs. Pembroke Academy on Wed., April 11th.  The weather was partly sunny and in the mid-40’s.

Julia Peters was either down one game or tied with her opponent, Mary McColloch, through 5-5 when she turned up the heat and forced her opponent into making more errors, Julia to win 8-5.  Both girls had strong serves and excellent strategy; it simply came down to who made more errors on the court.

Natasha Kipka played 2nd singles against Alison Soboz.  They were tied 1-1 and then Natasha won the remaining games, winning the match 8-1.  Natasha had some great volleys and lobs and was fully focused!

Zoe Werth played through a tight hamstring muscle to win her 3rd singles match 8-0 and Catrina Kipka won with consistent play 8-1.  Natalie LaFleur at 5th singles and Jill Karlicek at 6th both won their matches against players who had very similar tennis games to their own, 8-6 and 8-2, respectively.

#1 doubles was carried easily by Julia and Natasha, 8-0.  Their opponents were making a fair amount of unforced errors, trying to overhit and most shots landed either in the net or out.  The “Dynamic Duo” of Zoe and Catrina outsmarted their opponents with great net play and awesome communication. They won 8-1. Lastly, Jill Karlicek and Fiona Pieterse def. their opponents 8-2 at #3 doubles.
