ConVal’s Elise Robbins wins Division II pole vault state championship Athletes from ConVal’s girls and boys track and field teams competed in the Division II state championship meet at Oyster River High School in Durham on Friday, May 26. The girls team finished in 15th place out of 18 competing teams, with 10 points. The boys team finished in 8th place out of 18 teams competing, with 23 points. Junior Elise Robbins is the 2023 Division II state champion in the pole vault. She cleared 8’ 6” to claim first place and score all 10 of the girls team’s points. For the boys team, sophomore Kendrick Edwards scored 9 points with a second-place finish in the 100meter dash (11.37 seconds), worth 8 points, and a sixth-place finish in the long jump (19’ 9.5”), for 1 point. Junior Jack Harris finished in second place in the pole vault, with a personal-best height of 11’ 6”. That second-place finish earned 8 points. The 4x100-meter relay team of Edwards, Harris, junior Anthony Cadwallader and sophomore Elliot Featherstone finished in 44.85 seconds, good for fourth place and four points. And junior Jamie Post finished in fifth place in the 110-meter hurdle event in a personal-best time of 17.03 seconds, scoring two points. Additionally, Cadwallader’s 5’ 6” high jump tied a personal-best performance. Junior Aida Davis’s 1:03.13 was her personal-best time in the 400-meter run. Senior Brianna Decker capped off her high school triple-jumping career with a personal-best 28’ 10.5” leap. And in the final track event of the evening, the boys 4x400-meter relay team with seniors Ryan Charron and Nathaniel Mao, along with junior Ryan O’Connor and freshman Mason Deschenes achieved their best-ever time of 3:54.56.
